Owner and director Ellen M. Carlin, M.S. CCC-SLP, IBCLC is a licensed speech-language pathologist and holds her certification of clinical competency through the national Speech-Language and Hearing Association. Ellen is also a board-certified Lactation Consultant. In addition, she is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), the Houston Association for Communications Disorders (HACD), the Texas Speech and Hearing Association (TSHA), the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA), and Honorary IAOM member, certification track in Orofacial Myology-IAOM.
She earned a bachelor of science in communication disorders from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA, and a master of science in speech pathology from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
As an expert on oral motor intervention as it relates to breastfeeding, Ellen has been a guest speaker for the La Leche League’s lactation consultants conference.
As co-owner and business development director, Mike oversees all elements of operations at Carlin Speech. He has over 25 years of multi-location and executive management experience and has held his current position since he and his wife, Ellen, opened the practice in 1996. Mike graduated from Penn State University.

Pediatrician Dr. James R. Herrin, M.D., F.A.A.P., received his pre-med bachelor of science from Texas A&M University, then went on to earn his medical doctor degree from UTMB Galveston and completed his Pediatric Residency Certification at Oklahoma Children’s Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City.
While in the United State Air Force, he served as chief of pediatrics at both Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico and Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. He achieved the rank of Major and received the Air Force Commendation Medal.
Dr. Herrin has been a well-loved fixture in Montgomery County, TX pediatrics for over 25 years. He believes compassion and personal involvement in his patients’ lives make all the difference for the children he treats.
